i think they would probably choose to do something else if they had the choice. but this does not mean we should label them as "bad" people.

Okay, so I get where you're coming from. Not that I've ever been in this situation, but I can only imagine how terrible it must be. Now I do NOT think you should take this job. I know you might be wanting more positive opinions at this point but that's how I feel. ( I am 14, will be 15 in December so I'm about your age). Although I feel this way, I know you are NOT a slut or anything. I think it's great you would go the extra mile to help out, but I really think that you should go the extra mile by doing a different job...even if the exotic dancing pays ALOT. And it might get harder and harder to keep lying to your mom. Even if you are just saying its 'another job', she might wonder why you are getting paid so much more extra than a teen would be getting paid with a regular minimum wage job. Plus, there are always problems with regular jobs, but problems may occur even more with this type of job. So this is my opinion, but I say good luck with whatever your decision is. Hope I helped, and I hope everything starts getting better. :)

When I was in Vegas, I met some exotic dancers. They were nice people. The women I met were actually lesbians. They said after shaking their money-maker for men all day, the last thing they wanted to go home to was another man.
The prostitutes however were scary as crap. Anyone that can get to any hotel room in Vegas faster than a pizza (30 minutes or less) is too fast to be my friend.

many years ago one of my neighbours was a single mother. her choices were to be an exotic dancer two nights a week after her children were asleep and safely in the care of a babysitter or to work a full time job making far less money and spending much less time with her precious babies. she chose to dance (no sex allowed), made lots of money, bought her own home and spent most of her time with her children. she was very kind hearted, thoughtful and generous with both her time and money. her children were well provided for and knew she loved them. i lost touch with her awhile ago but i'm sure she and her kids are still doing just fine. i think there are lots of women just like her so i'm going to say they're just as good as anyone else.

I hesitate to label anyone bad. I would say they are good people, but in a profession that exposes them to a lot of vices and seedy people. (I've known my share of them - meaning, exotic dancers, vices AND seedy people!) I think the whole scene is a bit twisted and kind of a downer.

Sure some of them are bad. A few may get involved with drugs and such. But there are bad people in every profession. Even CEOs have been caught stealing money.
If you had ever got to know a stripper or someone in that business, you would know that most of them are not bad people.
Dont judge people with stereotypes.

What somebody does for a living does not necessarily make them a good or bad person, so I would say that they are good and bad people just like any other person in any other profession. But does doesnt have to have anything to do with what they do to pay the bills (necessarily)

my opinion is they are good people if they are single at the time, or the person they are with really doesnt mind their profession.
if they are doing it behind their partners back then they are bad people
