hurt. Lets also portray homosexual men as those that care about fashion and differentiate them from other men by having them not do any 'manly' things. Please, homosexual men only means they like men; it says nothing about their non-romantic interests.

I don't think it's Hollywood that's portrayed lesbians as all being stunningly, stereotypically beautiful feminine women with long nails (yeowch). It's porn that's done 99% of that. If those are all the lesbians you've seen in movies, you aren't watching the same ones I have. Try watching 'Better than Chocolate', 'Boys on the Side', 'If These Walls Could Talk 2', and 'The Incredibly True Adventures of Two Girls in Love'.
And I actually say this while being a tall (5'10.5"), long haired (past my hips), big breasted (no way you're getting that measurement) lesbian. ;)

"Hollywood" is a double edged sword. It does make people more aware of situations and possibilities yet it also portrays and perpetuates stereotypes. The issues don't come up until someone actually believes those stereotypes.

Hmm... I think both.
It has helped that it is no longer tabboo to have openly gay characters on shows. Maybe more positive exposure like this will mean gays are more accepted?
It has hurt in that it has created stereotypes that aren't realistic - but most stereotypes aren't!!!!

i dont think hollywood ever think of us , men women or lesbian or gay ...
thats not the business of hollywood .... we are all alone and we are all going to be hurt ..
so stay away from getting hurt by not thinking that people say something bad cause they mean it .... it just it sounds bad to you but it was never mean to hurt you ...
sound bad and meant to hurt you are two differnet things
be happy ,, or keep trying to go on to that side

Both. In some ways it has helped just having exposure, but when the exposure is negative, some people can't separate reality from fiction.

I'd say it's helped us. Fine, they do stereotype us in movies & tv series' sometimes, but with Hollywood accepting homosexual celebrities, we don't have to hide away anymore.

Helped. Allowing those who are constantly in the spotlight to announce their sexual orientation would be viewed as liberating to those who idolize them.
