I have a 81 Datsun 810/Maxima witht he LD28 diesel engine, transmission is bad I think, will the transmission from the say 81-83 or so with the gasoline engine fit up to the diesel engine?

I'm pretty sure all Nissan L-series straight sixes use the same bolt pattern. So a gasoline Maxima engine - or one out of an early Z-car before they went to V6 power - should fit.

I can't answer this one on my own but if you contact a salvage yard they will have a cross reference book that tells them interchangeability of parts. I know in several american cars they do interchange but I'm not familiar w/ forign cars. The bell housing should be the same but I would check first. You will have to remove the old trans any way. If they won't help you, you could measure the bolt holes and look at the trans to see if it looks identical for a good idea. If you had both of them on the ground in front of you it will be obvious if they will swap. Good luck and I hope it works for you.

should be ok but u may havta use ur bell housing to make it work
