Maybe the farmer had rubber shoes on and was also holding a wooden stick or even the tree. Rubbers and wooden things are known as weak electricity conductor and wont attract ligtening.

Normally buffaloes and cows which are owned by the farmer has something metal on them, like a metal nose ring or metal coller, this metal is a good electricty conductor which will attract lightening easily.

Animals in lots of cases carry seeds of flowers or maybe even a tree seed and disperse them places. They consume bugs that must be risky and this is basically the circle of existence each thing leads to a distinctive interior the full image...their manure in all possibility helps for fertalizer, I study someplace that interior the rainforest in case you do away with one species it could have a risky result on the tree relatively if it has culmination often times it won't have any fruit because of the fact it has to evolve to a clean substitute of no help from even a small difficulty like a gnat which yet another animal eats which yet another one does that helps the tree so the others lose the foodchain.

Your riddle states only where the farmer was standing. Therefore the animals were standing somewhere else, and the lightning struck them, and not the tree and the farmer.

He wasn't by the cow and the buffallo. The farmer had a buffallo and a cow. Doesn't mean he was with them. They could have been in the barn and lightning struck the barn.
