The pay would have to be spectacular.

First of, I think you should be grateful you even have a job because there are people out there who don't have that opportunity. Perhaps you should try to be more positive and the job wouldn't be such a drag.. just a suggestion. As for your main question, I think happiness comes before money so no, I wouldn't stay with a job I hate and I would most likely search for another one to switch to where I feel more comfortable and happy.

Excellent question!
Too many people today are at jobs they don't like just for the check (or as you say, cheque).
People must find that right job suited for them.
Many office jobs today are boring like yours is.
What you need to do is find out what you truly enjoy doing, whatever that may be. Maybe you enjoy doing several things.
When you know what you would like to do for most of your waking hours, then go about finding work within that industry.
Many people like pets. The pet industry is a boom industry today. That's just one example.
Once you've found what you truly love doing, you'll find the hours of the day tick away quickly because you are very busy at doing what you like doing.
Those pay cheques come around faster and maybe even bigger than you expect them to be.
I hate to say "bonus" (because they don't dish them out like they used to), but if you get really good at what you do for a living, you may find rewards above and beyond your imagination.
What the world needs are more happy people contented with their jobs.
Too many are like you, just dragging your feet but hating every minute of it.

No definitely not! There is so much more to life than just working. If you are so unhappy at work, it will affect your mood for everything else. Before long, you will be complaining to all your family and friends about how much you hate your job. That makes you an angry and unhappy person and it will show in your moods and interactions with everyone.
Don't let an unhappy job ruin your life!

Its not nice working in a job you hate, but if you left would you have money to look after yourself? You can look for another job you like & then leave this one. Or when you get to know the other people you may like the job better. Isn't doing something better than not working? It will get you out in the world.

No, I wouldn't stay. Life is too short to be wasted in doing what you hate!! You should do more things that you love!! However, if you will be starving for not having that paycheck, then I guess my suggestion is for you to try to find some other job first before you leave this one. Don't burn your bridges, but don't walk on an unsafe one either! ;)
Good luck!!

The only thing you can do is to look for a better job, in the meantime stick with what you have now and cash your cheque.

depends what motivates you, is it a means to an end, then stick at it.
if you are better off on yr pension, then quit it.
why dont you extend yourself and inject some life into the place. you sound a little self centered, maybe you should try an fit in and stop whinging
