1-Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?
2-Why is the alphabet in that order? Is it because of that song?
3-Why is it called a TV "set" when you only get one?
4-Why is it called a "building" when it is already built?
5-Why does "slow down" and "slow up" mean the same thing?
6-Why do we have hot water heaters?
7-Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways?
8-Why do they call them "apartments" when they are all stuck together?
9-Why does Donald Duck wear a towel when he comes out of the shower, when he doesn't usually wear any pants?
10-why do you get on a bus and a train but get into a car?

I Know that is Crazy But It Also Make alot of Sense

1. Have you ever eaten a mouse or cat food?? I think only after you do can you be qualified to answer that question.
2. The alphabet is in that order b/c Sesame Street says its so. If you want the Count after you... then keep questioning it.
3. You only own tv??? How very strange????? But back in the day, tvs weren't just a screen. It was this large piece of furniture that went into your living room set.
4. I'm not sure on the building thing, only i can only guess as too if it can hold many people then you can no longer consider it a house.
5. They mean the same b/c they have the word slow ahead of them. it doesn't change the action...
6. no hot water heater.... no hot water....
7. Parkways are not named after parks are in park your car... but parks as in natural, outdoor parks. driveways are any road that the goverment does not have to keep up or plow snow... or anything else. it up to the owner to get it fixed.... sigh...
8. apartments are what we call then as slang. it really doesn't mean anything more than a section in a house. think like cells and the like.... just smaller versions stuck in a larger whole.
9. Feathers, while in real life, are water proof... in cartoon however they are not and tend to cling to donald ducks bits... towel keeps then away from children and daisy ducks eyes.
10. it be because bus and trains are mass transportation vechiles. cars can only hold so many people (for now anyway...) so if you were to get on your car... you'd be welll... on the hood or the roof.... if you were to get in a bus... i guess you;d be in the hood with all the gears moving the engine about. I dunno man... i couldn't bs my way through this last one...

now can you answer my question

why when we send something by truck its a shipment... and then when it goes by boat we call it cargo...

Well, #7--parkway/driveway issue---addressed in one of the "Imponderable" books, but I'm too tired to see which one.

Mouse-flavored cat food?--sounds like a great idea...but HOW are you going to get the good people at International Flavors and Fragrances to do the work on it?

I'll discuss DD's use of a towel, when you can give me a coherent reason for him using a shower and other human devices!

But #10 may keep me awake for a while. It's along the same lines as trying to explain to a non-native speaker of English why "overlook" means to miss something....but a SCENIC overlook is an absolutely wonderful place to stop and pause, so you DON'T miss something.....uuurrgghhh!
