My friend is visiting from foreign country, and she just discovered a lump on her breast. Is there any free or low-cost clinic or hospital that she can go to have a breast exam since she does not have traveller-insurance? She is currently in Bay Area (North California). Thanks.

Check with Planned Parenthood - they have a sliding scale, but I don't know if it covers foreigners. If not, they may be able to refer her.

Also, check with Valley Medical - if they can't help, they have lots of resources.

Otherwise, well, how long is she going to be here? If it's just a superficial problem, keep an eye on it. Most likely those clear up. If it doesn't change too much, it may be okay to wait until she's back to her home.

Try not to worry too much, but do check! Good luck!
