Before I used to suffer with colds for several weeks at a time. Now, it lasts only days. Nothing has worked better for me than to take Airborne, Eachinacea tablets (from any pharmacy or vitamin store) & the tea (found at any supermarket) and vitamin C (1000 mg) altogether every 3 to four hours. Take the Eachinacea tablets and vitamin C along with the Airborne. Drink lots of fluids like water, herbal teas w/lemon & honey, some juice (watch the sugar intake & crash) and chicken soup in between. Get lots of sleep to recharge your body. You should feel better quickly and get better in about a week.
It's okay to take the Airborne even after you have developed the cold. It will supply your body with proper vitamins & supplements depleted from your body and give you energy. Take Eachinacea tablets, drink the tea and take the vitamin C which will help to strengthen your immune system. All the products should help to ease the cold symptoms when you take it regularly. Get well soon!

There's a popular belief that says to take vitamin C but, listen, there's more truth in drinking liquids so drink fruit juices but also start to take vitamins that will strengthen your immune system. Colds are caused by viruses and nothing really kills viruses but merely causes them to either become dormant or flushed out. The only thing that does cure colds is your immune system, so strengthen it!
There's also some truth to the old wives' tale of Chicken soup because for some reason the fat of the chicken helps break up phlegm so you tend to breathe and feel better sooner. I'm not kidding here.
Drink lots fruit juices, have an occasion stiff drink (like at night to help you sleep) and do take vitamins to strengthen your immune system... and yes, DO take chicken soup! My 82 year old mother still gets a cold every 7 or 8 years for about 2 days and it's gone! She also has 3-4 chicken soups a week (home made and those soups are SO delicious... aw, heck, I'm drooling now). Good luck and best wishes.

they use to say feed a cold starve a fever. the best way is to eat what you can and drink lots of fluids. more chicken broth is good healing food. pineapple juice gets the phlygm out of your chest and is also a sort of antioxidant. cleanser. stay away from dairy products for that produces more mucous in you and you want to cleanse that mess out. one time i had a really bad cold i ate a sandwich soup and took a laxative oh and some orange juice, and that knocked it out after i let it out the next day

It's still lots of water and Vitamin C as our mothers say. Try to avoid sugar at this time. Cover your nose and mouth when sneezing and when someone sneezes near you.
