Spyware watches what you are doing on your computer and where you've been on the net. A virus is more like a sickness. Infected files mess up software and keep it from running properly.

A virus is self-replicating, meaning it will make copies of itself and send itself out, while burying itself in something in your working computer. Spyware can fall under this catagory as well, as the term has become ambiguous, but generally causes a nusance or steals information on a host's computer. Viruses are not a thing of the past. Connect to the internet without security patches, firewall, or a/v and you will become host to a virus within minutes.

A spy steals your identity, passwords, or maybe your datas. A virus just wipe out your files and may even crash your computer. Or a virus may even make all your programs acting weird and malfunction.

I think a spy gathers information while a virus attacks.

All three of those answers above are wrong. Both spyware and viruses can steal information, infect files, destroy your computer, and cause popups. This is infact a good question. Viruses are more a thing of the past, used by hackers. Spyware is a newer breed of viruses usually put out by marketing companies for specific purposes. The main difference is spyware has many times been coined legal, while almost all viruses are illegal.

hi, perhaps you can try Norton to remove the virus and protect your PC. but you need to pay for that.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

Spyware tracks your computers information (anything you do, or it will look for one thing) and a virus is just made to screw up your computer.
