I would definitely have to say Steffi Graf. She is a very smart player and plays the game very well. Maria Sharapova is just all power but doesn't really play an intelligent game. Steffi Graf and martina Hingis plays similarly. . . with class and wits.

Omg steffi graf was in a whole other class compared to sharapova, she is argueably the best female player of all time. maybe in time sharapova might be able to contend. But id say that if they played 10 matches. steffi would win 9

For the most part, the best players now are the best players ever because of equipment advances, ect, so Graf in her day would have no chance against Sharapova right now. But i would be careful if i were anyone beating Graf. Her father might pay off another german dude to stab you in the back if you start beating her too often.
