It can affect a lot if you have a newer car. A leak at the dipstick tube would be the same as a leak in the pcv system. The pcm will not accurately calculate intake air. problems could be. loss of fuel mileage. running rough. check engine light (after time) due to fuel trim readings to low. the longer you go without a dipstick the more problems. They can't cost very much you should replace as soon as possible

The dip stick covers and protects the oil from dirt as well as checking the oil level.

Not having one is not an urgent or emergent situation, but it is of low concern.

Go to a phone and call around to your local auto parts dealers. They should be able to give you a quote on:
1. Original part [more expensive and might not be in stock]
2. Part that will work fine [less expensive]. This usually is a generic dip stick that can be broken off at the tip if it is too long. If this concerns you, get any mechanic friend to help out. It is about a five minute job and the generic part is usually under ten dollars. Mine cost $7.50.

Good luck
Rick

Go to an auto wrecking yard and remove one from a car with the same engine as yours, shouldn't cost more than a couple bucks. You are the first person I ever heard of losing a dip stick, would sure like yo know how that happened.

Get a new one at a dealership. A surprising amount of "gunk" can be drawn in through the dipstick tube if the dipstick isn't in its proper place. You should to this soon; do not wait until the next oil change as you risk damage to your engine if you wait.

If you are not concerned about measuring your oil which I think is important, you should at least plug that hole up because you are losing vacuum which the engine needs.

I do recommend getting a replacement soon. You can find it at a junkyard quite possibly behind the counters. Thats where they sell engine parts.

Yes, dip stick.

Motors with unmonitored oil tend to lock up tight.

goto the dealership with your VIN # and buy a new one.
It is a concern because oil vapors can work their way out of the stick and you'll get to smell the burning oil smell, and you'll have no way of knowing when you're low on oil.

Not a major concern, tho i would cap the hole with something to keep debris out. Otherwise it is simply a gauge.

only if you need to check your oil. You should be able to pick one up from the wreckers for next to nothing
