Well then, I guess I cannot go into how I feel about people suing other people. But what are you, about 10?

$2,000 is NOTHING today. Oh sure, you can go to the mall and shop your heart out, but next year all the stuff you bought will be for naught. On the other hand, have you considered being a little more mature and long-term goal oriented and INVEST IT! Even if you bought a certificate of deposit (CD) or invested it in a Roth IRA, and kept contributing during the year, you would end up with more money than YOU could imagine in just a few years.

I have a horrible feeling your mother is irresponsible with money too and maybe that is why she had to sue somebody. Or, maybe it's a legitimate lawsuit, but by your question, I highly doubt it. I also highly doubt that either of you are gainfully employed.

Invest it in mutual funds, stock market, or anything that's going to give you 7-10% gain yearly. You'll soon be talking about spending more than $2,000 after the money grows.

$10,000 for a sprained ankle? I'd hate to see what you'd try to get for something serious.
