Have a room that people just walk into.......nothing happens for a few seconds.......then the room goes COMPLETELY DARK and things start banging around. That would drive me crazy!

A guy in my town makes one every year in his house that rocks!!! He has scenes from scary movies. Like: Freddy and his long nails chasing people, Jason and a machete, Michael Myers just walking around trying to grab people, Leatherface with a "chainsaw", the girl from the Exorcist (on a bed acting all crazy and spewing pea soup), Draculas, Frankensteins, Mummys, on and on. You can have different sections for each character. Use fog machines and scary sounds.
His haunted house is awesome and he doesn't charge anything just takes donations if you want to give.

OK you HAVE to do this my dad did it for me when I was a kid Im 28 and myfriends still talk about how awsome it was.....
He created a fake coffin out of cardboard and put a dummy dressed in his clothes, with a scary mask on it
He put it in the room durin the party and all my friends poked it and thought it was silly, some time between apple bobbing and us running around he put the clothes and mask on and laid in the box noone noticed he wasnt around, my step mom then told up we were going to bring it back to life and gave my friend a palm full of salt she was supposed to throw in it so It could come back to life of couse we were like YEAH RIGHT so Karen sprinkles the salt all of a sudden it rises, the head turns to us and EVERYone inthe room BOLTS toward the door, he got out and chased us it was the scariest thing for that brief moment, then he took off the mask and said Happy Holloween I was the coolest kid in school for a while after that!

Depends what age level you're looking at. Me and my college friends had a prety scary one, where we had a kid hung from the rafters with his climbing harness but we hid it so it look like a rope around his neck. You could also have a well like from the Ring and have someone pop out.

we gave some 2cnd graders a tour of thr firehouse one time and i donned full gear flowing air....a couple of kids got wicked scared at the breathing sound so i took it off..but...an alien or darth vader and wear the scba gear..the heavy breathing freaks kids out...but then again..we dont want them to run from that sound in a fire either but if your dressed as darth vader or something they probably wont relate the sound with firefighters

Have it in the firehouse. Then when there is a fire alarm, people are crawling through the truck and BAM- they are on the way to a fire.
