How does it work? I heard of bluetooth, wirelss cards, and hooking your notebook to a cellphone to get high speed, but how does it work and what's the best way to get it? Does anyone know the best notebook and way to get high speed with out any cables or external modems?

Most notebooks these days have a built in wireless card, but you still have to find a network to connect to if you want to use the wireless. If you have DSL or Cable internet at home you can connect a wireless router to the DSL/CABLE and then your notebook will be able to connect to the internet through the router. Some places like school libraries, businesses like Pannera Bread etc allow you to use your laptop to connect through their router and internet.

I would forget bluetooth and cell phones if you want high speed

If your thinking of getting this for college/work, most will have a wireless network set up; as well most Panera Bread's, coffee shops--sometimes for a fee...

Almost any laptop you purchase will be wireless capable. Meaning-turn the computer on and your connected!!! You'll need to purchase a router to establish wireless at home.

ask your ISP for a wireless adsl or dsl router, or buy a wireless router if you already have a dsl or adsl modem. and the notebook must have a wireless card integrated (new ones already have the wireless)or buy a card or adapter
