I am expanding a one door closet by expanding the opening and putting two bifold doors in. I understand how to build the header and how to put in the jack studs. The only concern I have is what finishing pieces should go on the jack studs. I am not talking about the molding, but what piece actually goes on the jack stud. Also, this is in a very old wall so the king stud is actually a real 2 x 4 where is the ones I buy now will be 1 1/2 by 3 1/2 or so. How do I make them flush?

60 inches is a good number for width of 5 ft bifolding door. 81 is a little high, 80 is good.

door stile stock can be purchased at any lumber store. it measures 4.5 to 6.5 inches by .625 inches and will form the inner wrap of your opening. place the frone edge flush with the drywall, ensure plumb and/or level, shim as necessary, done.

Get a good friend or make a friend at Home Depot or Lowes.
