Has anybody else enjoyed this drama , dark comedy ?Dennis has had alot of relatives that have been , and still are FDNY. This show in my opinion is fantastic .If you have not seen it , you should ...its about survivor guilt after the horror of what we all know of ...Learys character, Tommy Gavin , lost alot of fellow firefighters that day , its about an Engine/Ladder Company in Manhattan . It deals sensitively & harshly with the reality of those that continue to do the job of saving lives.But in true Leary tradition , really cuts the fat off and deals with characters flaws , dreams and inter-dependant plots that really get heavy , darkly saterical, and down right heart-felt .Well written & well-acted characters . FX has drawn a winner here ...I think it has just finished its 3rd season ...FX sometimes shows it saturday nights in blocks of 3 episodes .Co-produced by Jim Serpico . Oh my goodness! I am so addicted to Rescue Me, although I do think some of the sex scenes get a little raw, but that's neither here nor there just my own personal taste. The acting is wonderful and the plot great. I bawled my eyes out during the season finale. What a crappy ending but it was true to the series. Well anyway I can't wait for the next season. Great post!

I'm amazed that this show has lasted for three seasons.. it's ugly, blatant, and real. Americans don't generally enjoy things that hit that close to the actual pain that infects the daily lives of those who work in the trenches for a living in this world. Every time I catch it, it leaves me sitting on the couch.. stunned, and thinking that it goes far beyond mere dramatac effect. Mr. Leary has struck a chord with this one.

Long time no read.
I love the show but not for thr artsy fartsy hyperbploe that you expound upon. I think the show taps into the basic human desire to discuss sex. These firefighters spend more time having and talking about sex than fighting fires. The alcoholism thing is an overdone Irish Catholic joke. That is not dark comedy. That is just comedy. It is Leary talking about Leary.

I enjoy it very much when I can catch it. I don't check listings so most of the time I just happen on it. My brother is a retired fire fighter from Chicago and he really likes it.

I got to see it from the beginning, but the last 6 months I have not had cable. Sucks, this was one of my favorite shows too! :(
