Lol, I don't have time to explain to everyone why they are horrible things to use... But maybe somone else will be kind enough to enlighten you :-)
Any comments? I'm sure I will recieve a fair share of insults, they do not bother me though, since they are coming from people who can't even control their emotions over a scientific idea lol, sad.

They aren't hard at all, what are you smoking!? Their use and purpose are both very simple, and the latter makes no sense.

Yes, they do take extra time, and I did like the classes best which did not require the use of them... My first experience with them was in a chemistry class which required the students to use them for the rest of the year.

I typically used them even in other classes afterwards whether the instructor explicitly required it or not, but it was certainly nice to not have a few points removed from your exam just because you forgot a number or such. It's really too bad when one has so many points taken away for a silly mistake such as that...I make a lot of idiotic mistakes and significant figures are just an extra opportunity for me!

I do understand the importance of significant figures obviously (hopefully all people who have completed chemistry majors such as myself do--or even other science and mathematics people!), and I rarely make mistakes on them or such now, but back in the day when I was first learning, I remember making a few, but not because I didn't understand them...mostly because it was something simple which I made a silly mistake for.

Significant figures aren't really difficult either; they're just something extra to check and worry about...especially during exams with time constraints!

i think of assorted misconceptions carry approximately such hate against a great group of people. i be responsive to assorted people who pair morality with faith. They ask your self the place i'm getting some thing like morality from if i do no longer beleive in any particular god. I additionally think of that christianity has been certainly one of those durable custom, that a distinctive way of questioning is intimidating to 3. various of people are threatened by utilising exchange.

Significant digits are way annoying. I love to just round everything up when doing anything math related (I also round off time to nearest 15 minute increment, temperature to nearest degree by 10, aka 77 becomes 80) so it's annoying to find out how wrong it is to just round everything when working with, oh, take physics for example. ARGH to significant digits! ARGH!

Significant figures are bulls.h.i.t. They don't really make any difference to a problem (except when a professor wants an excuse to take 30 pts. off of every answer you give him). They are arbitrary and frankly anyone who gives a flying F.U.C.K. about them has their head stuck up their chem teachers ***.

UI don't think they are THAT hard. I teach them in my chemistry class. Most get it eventually. Some don't.

But eventually, if you succeed, you will find that they are used for a very good reason, and indeed, are a requirement for any engineering or science project. By then, you will have figured out why they are used.
