Hi I can tell already you must be a new cook!
You are smart to ask this question...what is tbs?
Because if you didn't know you might end up with a very salty bread or a very peppery piece of chicken......or a not so salty bowl of soup....you are smart to learn the abbreviations of the sizes you need to cook with when you read a recipe....
If you don't have a set of measuring spoons you can use the spoons you eat with each day.
tbs. is TABLESPOON the bigger spoon you eat soup with
tsp. is TEASPOON the small one you eat dessert with.
Good luck and have fun in the kitchen....best wishes from Mama Jazzy Geri

You mean what is it the abbreviation for? Tablespoon. Tablespoon can be tbs or tbsp, teaspoon is tsp. Hope that helps.

tbs IS an abbreviation and you can't abbreviate an abbreviation. It stands for tablespoon when used in recipes.
