as a mom I guess I have a right to speak my mind on this.... the kids today are lazy, spoilt, selfish, unconcerned, disrepectful, disruptive, have no morals or values, well, ok, NOT all, but most ...... they have NO self value, No self worth, no respect for their own bodies... and yes, we as the parents have let this happen..... we have raised TROPHIES instead of children.... we have allowed our goverment to tell our children how to raise us, instead of us raising them...... they can call 911 and have us arrested for the most minor of things if they so wish.... we have BABIES dating at the age of 12 and girls worrying about *how to attract* boys instead of playing with dolls like I did at that age..... we have boys becoming fathers before they even shave..... we have teachers sleeping with 8th graders etc...... need I say more....... yes, it can be changed....... on our KNEES in prayer...... we has parents need to take back our children... we need to stand firm in our values and morals, and stop letting our children whine and scream at us telling us how we should raise them....... take a stand parents.... and save our children !!!! God bless

Here in America we are dealing with little children, eight years old, who made a plan to kill their teacher and were almost able to carry it out. In another incident, at least eight teenagers have been charged with kidnapping and assaulting another girl while they videotaped it. This is in the last two weeks, and I could go on and on. TV and Internet are spoiling our children, and they need to be supervised when they watch it. Violence and sexuality are subjects that are too mature for developing minds, and in the interests of keeping our children happy, we should protect their innocence and the joy of being a child for as long as we can. As far as disobeying and rebellling, all kids do this. It's a normal part of becoming an adult and should be expected. It is not the parents' job to keep the child happy. It is the parents' job to protect the child and make the hard decisions, whether the child likes it or not.

Yes, very much so spoiled and lazy. We as adults want to give them everything we had and more. We want to compete with others, and have more than others. We want all the new electronic toys, high fashion clothes. We teach are kids this as we go and they want too. We reward them when they do things that has to be done, and they learn from that, ( Whats in it for me ). They hate doing it simply because it's a chore, and they are being made to. Then when made they will half do it to get it over with. No this will never change. We will teach them this and they will theirs.

Children in America are both lazy and spoiled by thier parents. Mostly this is because parents are afraid of their kids. they don't want to upset the little darlings.
I say go back to having the darlings do chores, walk or bike to school and sports games and really do chores to get an allowance. Don't buy them everything they want. And for heavens sake-punish them by taking things away.

Or are non-Americans TOO illiterate? as a result of THEIR lack of quality education?

It is human nature to expend as little energy as possible. A quite successful strategy in the history of the species, until very recently, when food became so readily available. Otherwise, why bother to develop technology? In the case of America, the efficiency has superceded health benefits and is on the other side of the curve now, though.

They are lazy BEACUSE they're spoiled. My generation had to work hard for a living, so we tried to make it a little easier for our kids. In turn, they got spoiled and can't do much for themselves.

Don't blame the children, you change your attitude towards them. Try and find ways to keep them active and busy.
