15% gasoline and 85% ethanol.
You can only use it in a car that has been designed for it... The high concentration of ethanol is very corrosive, It will eat its way thru normal gaskets and o-rings.
New government vehicles are mandated to use e-85 fuel if it is available.
The lower cost is inviting, but you receive about 25% less on your miles per gallon... So, at this stage it really isn't cheaper!
A funny fact: Ethanol is a by product of distilling whiskey... Companies like Brown- Foreman, Jim Beam, Jack... They are already big suppliers to the e85 industry

No, your car cannot run on E85. Only specially designed versions of some maintstream vehicles can run on E85. As far as I know, they have been making specially designated models to run on E85 since the early 1990's. I read that they made speical Ford Taurus' and Plymouth Acclaims that run on E85. These special versions of these mainstream cars wear a badge, usually on the fenders, to indicate they can run on both E85 and unleaded gasoline. Supposedly, E85 is better for the environment, but that is being questioned now. I have yet to see any gas stations in my area that carry E85, but if it is in fact cheaper, that is offset by the fact that cars that car run on it suffer from lower fuel economy.

E85 is a mixture of gasolline and 85% ethanol. The ethanol is basically grain alchohol made from corn. it is supposed to burn cleaner than regular gas and not put so much of a strain on fossil fuels. It can be used in flex-fuel vehicles. I know that ford has been making them for awhile so you may want to check your owners manual or call the dealership.

It's not new , It's just new to the general public. you can find out all you want to know @ http://e85fuel.com
E85 means it's 85% ethanol & 15% gasoline
It is to be used only in vehicles designed for it called Flex-Fuel Vehicles.
Ford started producing Flex-Fuel Vehicles in 1993 & has more vehicles on the road than any other manufacturer, but your Focus is not one of them....so as tempting as the price looks ...DO NOT put in your car. Your car is not meant to run on any other fuel than gasoline (which can be blended with up to 10% ethanol )

It's 85% Ethanol and 15% gasoline. You have to have special car to use it or get your engine retrofitted. But with oil acting the way it is, look for more of these cars in the future.
