usually it is called hertz (1/s). hertz is defined as cycle per second. cycle does not have any unit of measurement. so cycle per second is 1/s

If a wave is travelling at a certain speed in meters per second, and you divide by the wavelength in meters, you will get the frequency of the wave in inverse seconds (hertz). Hertz to divide, I know.
