Lemme guess: you're a goth? LOL I used to be like that in high school, too (I'm 23 now). It depends, dudette. If you want to defy authority (like I usually did...), keep wearing it. If you want to conform, conform.

I think you should know that the only reason why your principal is getting you to take it off is because of the Colombine massacre back in '97(?). I'm sure you and your classmates don't remember how frightening it was, but I"m sure your principal and fauculty does. Just keep that in mind in whatever decision you make.

If you want to wear a trench coat the best thing to do is to pair it with some nice shoes so it falls at the right angle and makes you look GREAT.I have two burberry trench coats they are a must have in the winter im short so i wear mine with boots to elevate me. Yes im a women but still your height doesn't matter just make sure you try on the jacket with a outfit you would mostly wear it with or similar to so you know what you"ll look like. Remember you want it fall nice and make you look good. Happy Shopping

Unfortunately, the whole Trenchcoat Mafia deal at Columbine has forever changed the way school administrators will look at students wearing trenchcoats. Not a fair rap for a very innocent and even classy piece of clothing, but nonetheless, you can see their point. If it's not cold or raining and you wear one, their immediate reaction is, "What are you hiding under there?" even though that may be ridiculous. There's not a lot you can do if it's covered in your school dress code or if your principal feels strongly about it.

I know you like to keep warm but you need to find something else to wear. Try a parka. A black trenchcoat can be warm and good looking but it is prohibited by almost all schools since Columbine. In Florida, it would be seen as a flagrant breech of decorum. Wear your trenchcoat other places but wear a different type of coat for school.

The last I checked, long black trench coats are not the only coats sold at stores. I am sure that you can find something else to ward off the chill of your school's air.

I am sure that the reason for the "desire" for you not to wear the coat is the "implication" that it has grown to mean since Columbine School Shootings. Not to mention trench coats can hide a lot of things. In this day and age, school is not as safe as it used to be. If you don't like the "rule", change schools.

I see movies of people in London wearing trenchcaots. I see a lot of goth kids wearing trenchcoats. I live in south Florida, i see kids wearing these even in the summer. I don't know how they can stand the heat.

40 degrees is cold enough to wear a coat indoors.

Well Candyman, and Darkman both wore trench coats. I would tell you to find a smaller jacket. I'm not saying you would but they your principal might think your carrying a gun or some type of weapon in your coat.
