1 3/4 = (7/4)

(7/4) + (4/5) =
(35/20) + (16/20) =
(35 + 16)/20 =
(51/20) =
2 11/20

-----------------------------

(7/4) - (4/5) =
(35/20) - (16/20) =
(35 - 16)/20 =
(19/20)

----------------------------

(7/4) * (4/5) =
(28/20) =
(7/5)

----------------------------

(7/4) / (4/5)
(7/4)*(5/4)
(35/16)
2 3/16

SUM:
1 3/4= 7 / 4
7/4 + 4/5 = 35/20 + 16/20 = 51/20
= 2 11/20

DIFFERENCE
35/20 - 16/20 = 19/20

PRODUCT
7/4 x 4/5 = 28/20
= 1 2/5

By the meaning of quotient, i really don't get the meaning of quotient, is it the fact that you divide 1 3/4 by 4/5? Anyway, I've already done 3 out of 4 questions you asked, so yeah here you go :D

Make the mixed fraction into an improper fraction
1 3/4 = 7/4 Then the sum is
7/4 + 4/5 = 35/20 + 16/20 = 51/20 = 2 11/20
The difference is
7/4 - 4/5 = 35/20 - 16/20 = 19/20
The product is
7/4 * 4/5 = 28/20 And the quotient is
(7/4)/(4/5) = 7/4 * 5/4 = 35/16 = 2 3/16

Suggest you spend a **lot** of time studying and working the practice problems ☺

1and 3/4 can be written as the rational number 7/4.

sum: 7/4 + 4/5 = 7(5)+4(4)/(5)(4) = 5/20
find LCD of the two fractions and add. recall: what you do to the top, you must do to the bottom

differrence: LCD 7/4-5/4 =35-16/20=19/20

product: 7/4 X 4/5, multiply numerators; multiply denominators
28/20

quotient: 7/4 divided by 4/5
invert the divisor (4/5) into (5/4)
and multiply by dividend (7/4)

7/4 X 5/4 = 35/16

Basically, you need to add, subtract, multiply, and divide these two numbers. You need to find the lowest common denominator between the two fractions, which is the same as the lowest common multiple. Adjust the numerator so that it is the same proportion over the new denominator, and then you can get to work.

It'd be even easier to change that mixed number into an improper fraction at some point (what one doesn't really matter).

what you do is you set these factions so that they are improper fractions....

1 3/4 = 7/3
7/3+4/5;7/3-4/5;7/3x4/5;7/3/4/5....

for multiplication all you do is multiply the top with the top and the bottom with the bottom, that is numerator by numerator and denominator by denominator:

7/3x4/5=28/15

quotiant is like multiplication on that you invert the second one the one that is dividing...
7/3x5/4=35/12

subtaction and addition both require the denominator to be the same so you set them equal...
7/3+4/5=35/15+28/15=63/15
.............=35/15-28/15=7/15
