Well, I think it is the people's sacrifice to allow him to put out our future generations in debt to China. Since that's where he is financing our war and in turn lining the pockets of the huge corporations that are contracted for all the supplies for the war. Are the people who are going through their days normally not concerned for their kids future , or don't they realize the extent of this financial disaster?
Are people so soft and content that they they are on the road to losing the civil rights so many Americans have died for? The Germans were like that, they were enjoying security and national pride, no brown shirts or Gestapo would come for them, most of the stories were lies anyway. Germans don't torture people and the Jews are being moved to Poland .
His Presidency has 2 more years, we all may end up sacrificing more than we ever dreamed.

Bush has made no sacrifice at all. Except this is about the only year he hasn't been on vacation most of the time. He doesn't dare. The country is watching. Right now, he is sacrificing his time (with our tax dollar$), flying around the country on Air Force 1, lobbying for his GOP constituents. I don't know why. The elections are rigged in their favor via the new electronic voting machines. They are having nothing but problems with them throughout the country--just in time for the Congressional elections. I recommend we all vote absentee ballot, just for the paper trail it creates. As well as the convenience.
I have never followed the political arena more than in the last couple years. They need to be watched. Closely. America needs to get involved more. Go back & revisit the Constitution & The Bill of Rights and what it stands for. If for no other reason, than to see the liberties & freedoms we are told we must "sacrifice" for the sake of Bush's war on terror.

The Iraq war, like Viet Nam before it and many other military effots we have gone to since 1945, is not really a war. A war, in strict Constitutional terms, must be declared by a joint session of Congress. We have not had such a declaration since 1941.
The War Powers Act gives the President, as Commander in Chief, the power to send our troops anywhere he wants to. The only power Congress has to stop him is to deny funding. But what congressman is going to commit political suicide by cutting funding to troops that are already in the field, in harm's way?
This war, right or wrong, will eventually impact daily lives in America. Unfortunately, it wil not be OUR daily lives, it will be the daily lives of our children and grandchildren who will eventually have to shoulder the burden of the debt that this war and the 2001 tax cuts have put upon our nation.
I think that if we had a balanced budget amendment that only allowed deficit spending in time of a WAR DECLARED BY CONGRESS, so that the government had to raise taxes any time the President wanted to spend a few billion to send troops to Camp Faraway, we'd have a lot less of these little adventures. At the very least, we as citizens would feel the impact immediately. Conversely, Congress would have to declare his support for the war by his vote to declare it. It would make them think twice, when looking at the difference between 'authorizing the use of force' and declaring war.
If this is a war, let's not just CALL it a war. Let's DECLARE it as a war and let's FIGHT it as a war. That means we go to a war economy, a military draft, a declaration by the majority of the Congess that this is something that is right, decent, and necessary.
If we can't do that, then why are we dying for it?

One sacrifice that the people are not making for the first time in our history is to have to pay there income tax at the regular level and not recieve any tax cuts.
Irag is the first war we have fought and also had tax cuts at the same time.

You got it right 3D. We should at least be supportive of our troops (including the Commander In Chief) as true Americans. And I mean more than lip service. Saying you support our troops and then in the same breath bash Bush for having us there doesn't get it with me.
The opposition leadership has killed so many of our soldiers with their 'loose lips' it is unbelievable. The likes of Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Howard Dean, Harry Reid, Nancy Pilosi et al. with their anti-war rhetoric embolden the enemy and literally kill our soliders. The radical Islamic extremists listen to what these dangerous fools say and garner support from their attempts to make names for themselves.
And they think we don't get it. Don't understand what is going on. Can't rationalize the consequences of their actions. There are a lot of people that should be charged with sedition, if not treason.

Basically we have been asked to simply support the government's adventure in Iraq without making a lot of fuss and we have been asked to sacrifice our values to accept security.
Freedom is very expensive.

A better question would be what sacrifices has the president ever made for this country? His family has had their lips on the country's tit for years.

If leaders were in the front lines of every war, possibility of wars probably would decrease greatly.
