study, that is all you can do even if you don't like it.

Your best bet is probably just to gut it out. Sadly, a lot of life is like this - toilets which won't clean themselves, babies' bottoms which won't wipe themselves, complex tax returns which won't write themselves. Tasks which are annoying or downright gross, yet which have to be done.

Since you dislike it so, one tactic would be to tackle your social studies homework/studying first, before other things. Then you have it out of the way, it won't be something you have to dread the rest of the evening, and you won't be tempted to procrastinate and avoid doing it.

Also, see if you can find something about it to (privately) make the task less onerous. It could be anything - search the text for pictures and stories that are unintentionally funny or downright wrong. See if you can identify areas that have been omitted or glossed over. Perfect a killer imitation of your teacher while you memorize the stuff he/she has scrawled on the board. Bottom line: see if you can find something interesting about the subject, even if it isn't quite what the teacher had in mind.

And most of all, remember that it's only a semester or two or three. A drop in the bucket in terms of your life. Crank through the work, get your high grade, and move on.

If you really want a high grade you just have to get over hating social studies and start studying and raising your hand. Turning in any homework you get on time and talking to the teacher if you don't understand something couldn't hurt either.

Why don't u make it fun? What do u like to do? Organize? Make an outline. Do u like to draw? Make a really colorful outline or mind map of events that happened. Repeat some of the stuff during free random times throughout the day, like when you're eating breakfast, brushing ur teeth, or showering. Draw some of the characters or ppl and write facts around them (ie draw lincoln and have him wearing a shirt saying Emancipation Proclamation) or something. If you're good with pictures, try to remember the pictures of ppl or events with something funny in them (ie during the civil war, picture confederates vs. the union and have mickey mouse run through). If u like music, make your facts rhyme (here's an easy one: The constitutional convention was in 1787). Make stories out of the facts (read a section and retell it as a story to someone else or to yourself). Make them personal to you [ie the forty niners (that is what the gold miners were called, but I imaginei them as my fav. football team0 dug for gold in Ca in 1848. So picture a football team with the numbers 18 on one guy and 48 on the other. Picture them digging for gold/footballs) You can learn a lot if u just use ur imagination and make it fun.

1. Do all of your homework. ALL OF IT.

2. Study for at least 1 hour before every test.

3. For particularly hard tests, in addition to your one hour of individual study, spend at least 1 hour in a group preparing for the exam.

4. Don't be afraid to ask for help or additional explanations from the teacher.

Repeat what the teacher says verbatum. Think for yourself, you will fail. Search for truth, you will fail. Just be a good parrot, you'll get an A.

You've got plenty of time later in life to study truth, logic, and facts.

Just treat it as a matter of business, memorize the important points, and spit them back on the tests. Try not to let the teacher know you're less than charmed with his/her subject. Be polite and adult and get through it with a minimum of friction.

Do you'r work, actually study and if you need extra help cause you don't understand something or the teacher is moving to fast and you don't feel okay with asking for help during class. Wait till after class and talk to your teacher let him or her know your having problems and need help with it.

If it is the teacher and there are other options, switch.
If is the boy next to you, trade seats with a friend for 3 milkshakes and a future boy friend draft pick.
If is the subject, well, then you have a problem.
However - if you can find a cute guy to tutor you.....
