Well, this if a funny question due to the fact the Chinese are one of the best traders on the face of the plant... BUT.... you can be as well !!!!
Do the following - It all most all-ways work :-))
=============================
1- find at least another Chinese producer of a similar product - not the same !!!

2- find at least another Taiwanese producer of a similar product - Very similar!!!

3- find at least another producer of a similar product - from INDIA not the same !!!

The Chinese can not stand their competition from the R.O.C.- TAIWAN, and off course INDIA, they will fight any offer you get from them. Do not reveal their name ! ! ! , the Chinese know their business and ALL their competitors.
Do not rush , take your time and , do not response to the Chinese immediately , tell them you consider their offer and study it and looking at other opportunities in SIMILAR products due to high price which will not enable you to make sufficient profit in YOUR !! market.
Let the fold down, you might be surprised they may discount more then you anticipated.
DO NOT RUSH ! let THEM understand YOU LOOKING AT Indian AND Taiwanese OPTION.
Hope I DID HELP.
would love to know the outcome (Ha Ha Ha)
GOOD LUCK !!!!

that is a very vague question
what is the product ?
what is the Qty?
what are the terms of payment ? is it
Net 10 ? 30? 1% discount? 3% Disc?
is there a bulk purchase discount ?
have you dealt with them before ??
because do you trust them enough where you can just send them a check at the disired discounted price and memo the check
"total payment on acct XXXX"
that makes it a LEGALLY binding contract if they decide to cash that check but since this is a internationally transaction that would be have to be bold as hell to pull that off.
(I have done that and that worked well but locally)
I would have to know the terms of everything to give you a solid answer...

I think you need a Chinese person to help you find what you need in China, and I know a website can provide the service , the service is called "Person to Person" http://www.knowhowing.com/persontoperson.htm , through the service you just like engage a "agent" in China to help you to find what you need in China.
