This bathroom is long and small and he tells me it is so dismal in there he cant hardly use the toilet. There are no windows and you cannot hardly see yourself in the mirror because it is so dark. Now she plans on putting black marble look tile on the floor. What on the earth possessed her to do this. Would a rubber ducky help?

There is no natural lighting in the bath and it looks terrible. I am not kidding when I say it is so dark in there you cant see yourself in the mirror. Is there a way to brighten it up?

I forgot to say the bathtub is gold. What a mess.

He did not give permission for the bathroom paint job. He simply said she was paying him back for money she owes him.

Have you boyfriend work with her to come up with a good pallet. You may want to stay out of it, and just be labor if she needs help.

If your boyfriend doesn't like the color, change it but stay with one that doesn't tend to make the room seem smaller. Next, paint the ceiling a white or Skyblue White to again not close in the space. And the black floor shouldn't be a problem concerning "shrinking" the room because I is below eye level, but black is not a good color for the bath room floor unless he plans on drying the floor everytime he showers because the floor will show white spots where the water droplet dried. As to the lighting, a can light in the ceiling and a light bar over the mirror will take care of that. The rubber ducky is a more personal choice.

It sounds nice to me however for more light if you won't do a repaint than get multiple vertical shaped mirrors. They will reflect eachother and give an illusion of larger room. Also add some larger sized light colors picture/prints. Maybe some border wallpaper. You can add a 3-4' paneling that is specificly for baths which will be lighter in color and offer water protection to the walls and won't seem as rude as repainting.

I hope some of this helps.

Oh yes Light and large carpets.

flourecent lights are a truer white light that covers more area but isn't very warm to look at.

You could do a faux treatment on the wall. Using a lighter colored glaze. You might be able to get one to match the tub (they come in metallics too!) I am not even going to ask why the tub is gold... if it has a porcalin finish, then you can get a refinisher and paint it white (you can find it in the paint section of Lowe's) I would stop her putting the tile down! It will not go at all... suggest a tile that would go with the walls!

put either some navy paintings or some civil war paintings in there. those go well with grey/blue. however, you should add more lighting to it. theres things that screw into a standard lightbulb socket that have 2 or even 3 other sockets for more standard light bulbs. get them at a home improvement store. or maybe you could get some of those cool lights inside a plastic hose and string them up around the ceiling.

Why would you do anything?
It sounds like she's made the decisions about her daddy's bathroom. And, more importantly, he let her. Daddy's girl can do what she wants and he'd never tell her he didn't like it.
Open your eyes. She is calling the shots even if she doesn't or never did live with him.
This isn't about the bathroom at all.
And why is he trying to put you in the middle? If he can't (or won't) stand up to his little girl about his own living space, she will be calling all the shots.
Forget about the bathroom. Forget about him and move on.

It's really her job to get the bathroom repainted back to original. I'm assuming that he did not giver her permission to do it. If he did give her his blessing then he needs to eat the cost and take on the job. Why are you sitting here worrying about it? I hope it doesn't become your responsibility to fix!

I think she needs to go see a Psychiatrist. You cannot have those colors in your bathroom. Make her paint it back to the way it was - ask her in front of your boyfriend.

Do a faux finish over in a pale ble shade and get a full spectrum light bilb.

perhaps she really does not want you two to be happy together. I think this question would get better responses under the relationship heading. Ditch the daughter or get a new BF
