(3n-2)/5 = 7/8

Remember that the equation is still equal, just as long as you do the same thing to both sides. And you can do anything you want to both sides.

1. multiply both sides by 5

5(3n-2)/5 = 5 * 7/8

3n - 2 = 35/8

2. Add 2 to both sides

2 + 3n - 2 = 2 + 35/8

3n = 2 + 35/8

3. Divide both sides by 3

3n/3 = (2 + 35/8)/3

n = (2+ 35/8)/3

For your second problem, you would repeat the process.
1. Multiply both sides by 4
2. Subtract 7 from both sides
3. Divide both sides by 3

1. (3n-2)/5 = 7/8
3n/5 - 2/5 = 7/8
3n/5 =7/8 + 2/5
3n/5 = (35+16)/40
3n/5 = 51/40
120n=255
n = 255/120
n = 1,875

2. go on seam way like 1. problem

(Your equations only have a variable on one side).

1) Multiply both sides by the denominator of the fraction.(5 in #1, 4 in #2)
2) Subtract the term without the variable from each side (add 2 in #1,subtract 7 in #2)
3) Divide each side by the coefficient of the variable. (3, in each).

3n-2 =7*5/8

3n-2=35/8

3n =(35/8)+2

3n =(35+8*2)/8

3n=51/8

n=51/(8*3)

n=17/8

***
similarly for the second one

7+3t= -7*4/8

7+3t= -7/2

3t= -7-7/2

3t= 21/2

t=21/(2*3)

t=7/2
