You may want to check with an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. It may be sinus related. It could be some lingering affects of smoking. I get this all the time, and it is due to my sinuses draining down the back of my throat. Check with a specialist. Good luck...

I have that problem with my asthma. I have to run hard evey morning and make my self cough it out. It usually happens in the first minute. I also have to drink at least 1 gallon of water and avoid dairy pretty seriously. If I eat a slice of pizza, mucous/phlegm will form. Hope that helps.

Almsot forgot. I tried going vegetarian and that made it worse, weird. I mostly eat chicken as red meat has the same phlegm effect.

I'm not sure what you can do. If you eat right, take your vitamins, and exercise, I don't know what you can try. I think eating red pepper (hot pepper) can cause your sinuses to clear a bit, but I don't know about the back of your throat. If you want to try that, remember to drink milk or rinse your mouth with vegetable oil if you can't stand the pain anymore. Then follow that with something sweet. Contrary to popular belief, water doesn't do much to relieve the pain from capsaicin.

Have you tried coughing it up and spitting it out? That has worked for me in the past, but my throat ailments were never that persistent. That stuff sounds unpleasant. Good luck!

Sounds like allergies. Have you tried Claritin?
