Ok, I grew up in the ghetto and I have gone thru a lot. I went to school when I was little, but ditched a lot. Miraculously I was never held back. My mom got us out of the ghetto and we lived in a somewhat what you would call a "preppy town". I was 11 then. Went through middle school and grades weren't that good, but I was improving a tiny bit in this new environment. I met some1 who changed my thinking process completely. It was gradual, but it took a year, he was very patient and said before he met me he was praying to god to get a “brother like me” and he became my number 1 homie. He taught me that I should try and make my mom happy and do something in my life. I've known him for about 4 years now. I have moved far away from him into a small town in the foothills I am now 15 and a sophomore in High School. I have problems focusing and getting my work done, and paying attention to things I should. I know 10th and 11th grade are the years

I need way to focus and do something with my life, please does anyone know any way I can get rid of unnecessary thoughts, and lead a good life. I am trying to change my life.

You sound very sincere, so I'll keep it real with you. The first thing you should do is learn how to pray, and take your problems to God. God is a "Cure All", if you will believe and work at obeying God's Laws. The next thing you can do is concentrate on your positives and work at strengthening them, as they will eventually destroy your negatives. Also, learn to depend on your decisions and not anyone else's. You have a mind of your own, practice using it. If College is what you really want to do, prepare yourself for it by working harder to develop better grades. If you intend to live a better life than you left in the ghetto, education is a very valuable tool which will help you achieve that goal. If you wish to remain trapped in the ghetto of your mind for the rest of your life, then do nothing except become a follower, and spend your young life feeling sorry for yourself. The rest of your self-destruction will come quite easily and rapidly. By the way,I grew up in West Harlem New York, and I forever love the so called ghetto. The daily struggle for survival, and the many different cultures makes the ghetto one of the riches daily demonstrations of strength and determination. I don't scorn the people of the ghetto. I love them and I admire their courage. The polotics of life creates ghettos, not the people living within them.

Man seriously I wouldn't worry about it, you can always apply to university as a mature student as long as you have good enough grades in grade 12 U English and or pass grade 12 Math. I live in Canada so the curriculum is a bit different but it's the same none the less. Just stop playing the fool and do your work, stop smoking Mary J if you do that type of ish, and it's no rush you can enter Univsity by the time your 20 21 22 and still get a degree and be a younge Business man when you finish. Just don't get into problems with the law. Begin to focus now and you will have no problem getting into a decent univ of your choice, Remember your bringing them money they need you, more then you need them so to say. Take it eazy. I hope this helped

"get rid of unnecessary thoughts"

Yes, I know how. Click on www.fhu.com "be still and know" and get the free download. It is a mental exercise which is just what you are looking for. What is it?: It is a way to wake up from the hypnosis of life, toward a new reality which only the aware can percieve.

In 6 months you will look back and realize that you have moved above "all that".

You are a good man, I can see that. FHU is the link you have been missing.

1. You need to have some motivation to keep you focused. Whenever you start lose focus, run into problem areas, or do bad things, remind yourself of people who are important to you, your friend, your mom, and remind yourself of goals you want to obtain. Things like owning that company in Saudia Arabia, traveling to an exotic place, having your own family, whatever fun, healthy, and safe activity you want to work towards.

2. Pray for help, it works.

3. If you run out of things to do, instead of burning time doing crap, try to find ways to help other people. You will find this brings new energy and fun to your life.

Just use some common sense.....you're not perfect so calm down for one thing. If you have homework, get it done, study for tests, etc. Try to treat people in a respectable way. I don't know if you are spiritual, religious...but for me God and faith in God has always been a great source of strength. So just chill out and do what you think is right.

I think you will be fine. Just do your best and stop stressing yourself up.
I don't know why you can't focus, is it too much play? Too much work? Too many thoughts but little action? Find out why and find a method.
Enjoy the process and not worry so much about the goal.

I know by my answer many will not agree, but I know the scriptures really helped me in every way ! I really had a terriable life myself and it is with the knowledge and the love of God who showed me there is a better life for all that are looking for it. Its not money that does it either. Its the truth that is shown to us as we examine what God says and apply them to our lives that really gives us hope and sets us straight...
May you find peace.

Start by conditioning yourself... running a 1/2 hour everyday if you like it or not... if your sore or not... if you like it or not. Then after about 3 months, contact Unlce Sam... he'll take care of you from there. With all the conditioning you become addicted to (believe it or not) boot camp will be cake.
