Sounds like a pump failure, a dropped filter, or a failed lip seal.
If the filter didn't fall out of the pick-up, get ready to remove the trasns.
Does it engauge reverse first thing in the morning & then lose it?
Or has it lost reverse all together.
THe reason I ask is because reverse is un-governed pump pressure.
If you don't get a cold reverse, it's surely a failed pump.

I had a vacume module go on my hydromatic transmission on a Chevy years ago and once it went I only had reverse. Had to rebuilt the trannie.

Sounds like it could be the linkage! this would prevent gears from shifting in an automatic tranny, check it first b4 paying for major tranny repairs.

first check the transmission fluid level and bring it up to spec. second if thats ok, then your trans is probably shot and in need of an overhaul
