On December 1, 1955, forty-three year old Rosa Parks boarded a Montgomery, Alabama city bus after finishing work as a tailor's assistant at the Montgomery Fair department store. As all black patrons were required to do, she paid her fare at the front of the bus and then re-boarded in the rear. She sat in a vacant seat in the back next to a man and across the aisle from two women.

I didn't know the answer, so I checked in to learn...i did meet Rosa Parks when I lived in Atlanta, and as an aspiring photographer was tooling around with my two photographer mentors when we came to the Fox theatre and she was with some family and assistants...we asked and she gratefully let us each pose with her for a picture. A fine elequent lady who I always had heard tried to sort of play down the whole thing as far as her being 'famous', yet acknowledging how important the event came to be for all of us in this great country. That meeting was back in the mid 80's. Peace

They didn't keep records of slaves, I think she thought she was 38?
