The last time Terry Venables had anything to do with England was in 1994/1996 when he was the Manager ( I think ) England played 28 Games, won17, drew 6, and lost only 5, which is not too bad. So hopefully Tel has brought some positive thinking with him to help Steve help our Boys.

I really believed England was going to win the last world cup. It was there for the taking and the standard was the lowest I have ever known. Same old failings:
Wrong team selection
Wrong tactics
Players playing well below par (Frank Lampard in particular)
Left it too late bringing Hargreaves into the team
Leaving Beckham in the team when it was obvious to everyone except Sven that he was severely underperforming
Inability to score from the penalty spot.
Portugal were atrocious and of course Rooney got himself sent off. Even so we should still have beaten them as they offered nothing. I think if we had we would indeed have won the cup as there was nothing to fear from the rest of the sides.
I do not think we will ever win the world cup again unfortunately.

Yes. We do have a lot of good playrs playing in good clubs all over the world. But why England havent won the wc is generally bcoz all these big stars fail to click in the international level. They might be a little bit over confident at times too. But u see they will never match the heroics of the 1964 team. But lets all pray for a BRIGHT FUTURE 4 ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Yes I also think that English team was good enough, they will promise much but when it will be needed most they will fail to deceive. Not only football but in any sport England's misery continues.Although they have very good league setup and very good players are coming but they fail to perform in big matches.

Breaks of the game going against their way (like Maradona's Hand of God in 1986, injuries to players like Owen and Rooney this year), and horrendous performance during penalties.

So very sad,
you also like Flipper, cuddly toys and Santa Clause, and he is a better player than most of the English "stars" !

I love them too, even though I'm not English! Let's hope that in future (let it be the nearest future), they'll take what's theirs!
