I recently got a pair of American Eagle stretch jeans that I haven't worn, that are still stiff. I have heard crazy things about bathing in them to break them in, and I was wondering if anyone had some secret, fast tricks?

Thanks!

Wash them

I don't have any fast fixes other than wearing them and squatting a lot, like everyone else said, but for the long-term some jeans manufacturers actually recommend that you don't wash them for at least 6 months after buying them (eeew) and then they will be perfectly worn in and soft... Although they may grow some funky bacteria and walk themselves to the laundry basket... ; )

I agree with Russ one hundred percent....the only jeans you "bathe" in are the thick old school jeans (levis) in indigo...most jeans today are soft after a wash or two. After that the threads start to break down and your jeans start to feel as if you lost weight......marketing ploy, any pair of jeans that break down like that make you want to buy more, gives you the feeling of "wow i have lost weight".....Lucky Brand jeans are good for that, baggie *** after a few wearings.

Bathing in them??!! The only other time I've heard of that technique was for the purchase and manufacturing of personalized jeans from Levi's. You would go to their Flag store... choose the color, shape, and embelishment... and to get the new pair to form fit to you more you would sit in a tub with them. (but that cost hella money and I don't know if they do it anymore)

I suggest wearing the jeans around the house for a day and doing squats in them...basically get them to get used to your bodys range of motion. Wash them then repeat, the wash and repeat one more time. They should feel better by then.

Okay, to dispell the rumors, the only jeans you "bathe" in are Levi's 501 xx, the xx means the old school ones that are as thick as elephant skin and dark indigo. The rest of jeans, and the rest of the Levi's line this does not apply to. The only good way to wear in jeans is to wear them.

Here's some ideas:

1. Go do some landscaping in them for a week and dont wash them until you is done.

2. Wash them in rock salt.

3. Wash them at the laundry mat several times with some old shoes and heavy powder detergent (the cheap kind).

Use stone to gently wash the jeans. U sure get comfy with that after scrubbing + stone wash effect too.

I find putting them on after the spin cycle of the washer and letting them dry on you helps. It feels uncomfortable at first but they really do dry quickly. It only take a couple of times to make them feel broken-in.
