In a polar bond, the charge distributes between the atoms unequally. One will become negative and the other positive. An example is the ionic bond in NaCl. A non polar bond, such as a covalent bond indicates that the charge is equally shared between the atoms. An example would be the bond between hydrogen and carbon in methane.
