Any source that's free? And not a newspaper?

Okay, I am only 42, but I can say that around here (small midwestern town in Michigan), the skies look the same. The water is cleaner now than it was in the 1960-70's. We are surrounded by rivers, streams and the Great Lakes, and they are much cleaner than they were when I was a child. Much less random dumping of junk into them. The one thing that is strange is there are fewer bugs than there used to be. (More effective pesticides, I would imagine.) I think the air is actually cleaner here and in Detroit, because the emissions controls are more strictly monitored. However, many of my family members live out west in Arizona now, and the air quality is getting worse all the time out there. (Phoenix/Mesa area) The places we traveled alot, like Florida, seem about the same to the naked eye. That is all I can really compare accurately, at my age and where I have been both there and now.

Check the city newspaper. Some of them are online. If not, a call to the City desk and a bit of wheedling might get someone to dig through their microfiche records.

Or you could try the National Weather Service.

If you city is in Canada do this.

http://www.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/canada_e.html

pick on left side "Past Weather"

pick "Climate Data Online" in paragraph beside photo of old building.

Pick your major city off the map. If your city is not on map pick somewhere in the province containing your city.

Now see if your city is on this second map or the list starting with "city."

Also select date in green box.

That should work. Experiment a little with customized search if you're having a hard time.
