I've heard 18 and 17. In wikipedia in the link below it says 17, but it doesn't list Randy Johnsons.

In the true sense of the word, there has never been a perfect game thrown in baseball history. A pitcher would have to throw 81 pitches, all strikes, to retire all 27 batters to truly be considered a "perfect" game. Or 27 pitches, all contact putouts by the defense. They are the only two ways a perfect game can be achieved.

There have been 17 "Official"perfect games and 6 -Unofficial" perfect games. An unofficial game would be one in which there was a no-hitter for less than 9 innings and the game was over, or they pitcher threw a perfect game for 9 innings, but the score was tied and it went into extra innings. Harvey Haddix, of the Pittsburgh Pirates had that happen to him. He ended up being the loser of that game.

Something like 15 or 20 I believe.

I know that Dennis Martinez of the Montreal Expos got one around 1991 or so.
