Yes, to street thugs!

REAL heroes don't seek credit for doing what they had to do nor do they seek the pomp, glory and 15 minutes of fame. REAL heroes don't get paid for doing something and wait around to be recognized as heroes for doing what they're paid for. REAL heroes don't get recognition... VOLUNTEER educators, doctors, people that like the former President Jimmy Carter helping bring peace and not spreading war but helping the poor live in better and safer environments (and promoting the American way of life). Christopher Reeve was a TRUE hero to the very end!

The word "hero" is thrown around so loosely today that it has lost it's true meaning... look it up in a dictionary and see what I mean!

People who "play" for a living are not heroes... period. Firefighters and EMT's who rescue people from burning buildings are Heroes, Marines, sailors and pilots who are overseas fighting terrorists are heroes. Scientists who discover cures for horrible diseases are heroes, teachers who inspire kids to read, write and learn are heroes. People who serve meals to the homeless are heroes. Mothers and fathers who provide safe happy and nurturing homes for their children are heroes. The tow truck driver who rescues a broken down motorist during a snow storm is a hero. The veterans of past wars who fought to for your freed om are heroes. Mike Tyson is at best an entertainer. All sports figures fall into this category. They are not heroes. They are merly entertainers. Some of them may do heroic work off the field of play but don't consider them heroes just because they are good athletes. There are real heroes all around you.

Please. You would have to have a very odd definition of hero to classify Mike Tyson as one. He is a terrible role model and a thug who got lucky by getting into boxing.

Heck no... he is an ignorant racist buffoon who is a charicature of himself. His behavior in and out of the boxing ring is reprehensible.

If you want to find a hero, look outside the sports world to everyday heroes like good parents, teachers who educate our children, firefighters, police officers who provide for our safety, research scientists who work to prolong our quality of life, soldiers who protect your freedom... or others who contribute to the overall betterment of society.
