Yes, I remember the big hype on FM radio leading up to the night their album was first played. People called in to discuss whether the band was The Beatles or not. The single was something about aliens...I remember lyrics about "Interplanetary Craft."
They actually sounded more like ELO to me, but it was kind of fun and creepy to hear them for the first time and imagine the possibilities, especially after that whole "Paul is dead" thing.

Klaatu was a progressive rock band from Canada 1973-1982. They were NOT the Beatles incognito

I had their album. Actually I thought they also made a followup. I never really liked the album and probably never played it more than once.
