one of my neighbors has been coming over and trimming branches off of my trees and when i put the spotlights on and sit by the front window and watch they never come out and do it, i think they only come out when it is storming so they know i wont be able to see or hear them as good, i love all the plants and have spent thousands on landscaping my yard over the years what do you think i should do, also i have saved all the branches that they trimmed or broke off but the police just laugh when i call them, does anyone know of a p.i. in cleveland area?

the trees are small, expensive decorative trees so i dont think the leaves are an issue, i think it is either the guy 2 doors down or my neighbor directly next to me, but im not sure which one it is, the police have come out a few times and said that the wind or rain had knocked off the branches but these are young healthy trees professionally installed so i doubt everytime it storms that they lose branches

Well to answer you question. Buy one of those game camera's that hunters use to take pictures of animals at nite and day. They are motion detected devices and will work.
I think there is more here than just what is ask lol. Try talking with person and see if both of you can work something out so all are satisfied.

You left out some important detail didn't you? Like are the branches hanging over a fence or something? Are they on your property or the neighbors. If they are hanging on their property they have every right to trim whatever part is on their side. You've got to take your neighbors into consideration in situations like yours. They should have talked to you about it before sneaking up and cutting them. But if they choose to do so in the future just set a booby trap or run a trip wire to a switch that powers 9 kazillionbillion candle spotlights. Or a trip wire hooked up to a couple of screaming sirens that you strategically place in the bushes. That'll make em think twice before cutting your bushes without your permission.

How very sad! Are the branches going over onto their property? If the branches were causing problems in the telephone or electrical lines, or the neighbor doesn't like the leaves, falling on his yard. I just can't imagine.

If the branches hang over his property line he can trim them, but only up to the property line.

If he is tress passing and cutting on your side of the line. That is a criminal act.

Get a video camera and contact the chief of police and a lawyer. The cops are being lazy and stupid to ignore your complaint. I'm a retired cop.

Tie a mean dog up next to where they are mutilating your tree. The kind of dog that sits and waits, and then attacks, like a doberman. Or install motion lights and alarms near the attack zone, and maybe an electric pet fence would get them too.
Cant help you with the P I question, though, sorry.

If the branches are hanging over on their side of the property, they can legally trim them on their side. If they are coming on to your property to trim, get them on trespassing charges. Good Luck.

Have a great day!

You might also want to use a surveillance camera. Or hide out during a storm and run and tackle them!

Can you put video cameras or surveillance cameras up like the people do when they trap child abuser baby sitters?
