The island is subdivided into 6 regions.
Main Plateau = Atlantic upland
Second Division = Long Range plateau
Third Division = Avalon peninsula

Remaining 3 divisions are lowlands
Forth Division = *Notre Dame basin
Fifth Division = *White Bay graben
Sixth Division = *Small graben at Codroy
