The name "Iroquois" is actually a derivation of a French insult given to one tribe in the Confederacy. It means "black snakes". The people actually call themselves "Haudenosuanee", or "The League of Peace and Power". These were the people of Hiawatha and his mentor, Deganawida. Now I get my 2 points. They ate greens that they could find berries and etas. They spear fished and hunted for buffalo with spears and also deer and rabbits. They tools were mainly spears made out of wood and knifes made out of rock and they would beat and shape it like a spear.
special skills were hunting, trapping, netting, spearing I did not get this at a website...I lived close to a reservation and the women and children chewed rawhide to make it soft for mocassins and clothes...This last part is a joke! They had special rocks one flat and the other one for grinding corn for cornmeal.
