This is absolutely the LAST homework problem I will do for you.

2x - 4x + 9 = 11
-2x + 9 = 11
-2x + 9 - 9 = 11 - 9
-2x = 2
-2x / -2 = 2 / -2
x = -1

Now we plug the answer back in the problem and see if it works:

2 (-1) - 4 (-1) + 9 = 11
-2 - (-4) + 9 = 11
-2 + 4 + 9 = 11
11 = 11

first you add all the like terms together (the x's)
which gives you
-2x+9=11
then, because you have to get the x by itself you add -9 to both sides (this eliminates the 9 that is on the side with the x)
which gives you
-2x=2
then you divide both sides by -2 because that gets rid of the exponent on the x
so the answer is
x=-1
