I just started high school last week, I'm a freshman, and just moved from a new town. I don't fit in here at all. I haven't spoken to anyone at all, and no one has spoken to me. I've been sitting totally alone at lunch. It kinda sucks becuase in 8th grade at my last school, I had at least a couple of friends. We usually just get drunk, or play guitar or something like that. But at this new school, everyone is really kinda prepy, and they all follow eachother and have very tight groups. I don't fit in anywhere at all. When I moved here in april and went to the middle school for 2 months, I basically was just a loner. I'm sick of just sitting in my house doing nothing, I refuse to play a sport. In this town they are way to competitive and take it way to seriously. Band isn't really an option, I havent played saxophone in about 2 years, and don't feel like learning again and having to purchase one.

There aren't to many clubs, plus I hate being in school longer than I have to.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Preppy and cliquish? Sounds like the high school I went to (this was ages ago, but I guess some things don't change all that much).

You should get involved in something to make friends. What are your interests? Maybe join a club or society? It's hard to get to know people in your classes, but if you did some extracurricular activity, it might be easier to meet people with whom you have more in common.

All I can say is good luck, keep your chin up; thankfully, high school doesn't last forever. It'll be way better when you get to college.

Be nice and smile to everybody. It seems to me you are a punk rocker kinda guy.
I am sure you can find a group to fit in.
At first I was just like you in high school, I was afraid that everybody will reject me, but it finally turned out nice. And this is my second year of high school and I'm still freshmen, but it's cool. I get along really well specially with boys.

it's definetely hard for kids to go into a new school, especially high school. good thing is school just started and you're not the only person that's in your situation. i know you're nervous of what people will say or think but you have to realize that alot of those kids are nervous just like you are. you're not going to be friends with the whole school instantly but just make friends with someone and slowly you'll start to fit in.

i would highly recommend to find a club of some sort to join so that you can start interacting with people and i'm sure people will start talking to you.

i can't stress this enough tho, the "popular" kids that you see around, they are trying to fit in and are worrying about what people think about them. good luck!!

it is true that it's hard to make friends in the classroom. if you make friends with just one person, then you're good. slowly they will start introducing you to their friends, and their friends, and so on.

I was a loner too in high school.

You're being alone will work to your advantage. At least, you're not pressured to fit in and do everything others do.

Peers? Who needs them?

Excel in your studies, friends come later.

Peace.

just find a stoner or someone else who's got the same problem. the grass has a way of uniting people, and it will give you something to do. don't worry about making friends, if you do you're less likely to make them. good luck man.

well every school should have people that aren't so uptight try to hang out with someone you think you will have a good time being their friend. And remember don't judge a book by it's cover.

Talk to other kids that you think are cool and aren't out for popularity status. People think you're a snob if you don't talk to them.
