There is no association with marijuana, but it is illegal. Does this make good sense?

Don't you think children see the hypocrisy in our society?

so do you think alcohol should be illegal, or pot should be legal?

im sure there's strong associations between lots of things and sex offenses. we tried prohibition, and how'd that work out for us?....

edit- i doubt if a lot of children know what marijuana is; and even if they do they're probably not thinking too deeply about this socio-legal "hypocracy."

im not trying to be an a s s. im just not ready to jump on the 'legalize it' bandwagon yet (not neccesarily against it though either) - i think there's strong arguments against legalization, while none that support illegalizing alcohol. the two things have almost entirely different physical and socail effects. i dont think the sex offense argument works because stupidity and poor character are obviously much stronger factors than alcohol (since most drinkers aren't sex offenders).

but good question anyway.

There is a strong association between males and sex offenses. Does that mean, as some gender feminists want, that we should outlaw males. I do not know that there is no association with marijuana, but I think those who rape may also indulge in marijuana use.

Yes it makes sense. Not all people commit illegal sexual offenses while drinking alcohol. While alcohol can cause some health problems it's not nearly as damaging as drugs are. Plus there are laws to go along with drinking, such as not being allowed to drive if you have been drinking or while you are drinking. Must be at least 21 years old to drink and buy alcohol. (At least in my state it is. Yes there is lots of underage drinking here but still.)
More people die everyday from drugs over doses. There are lots of things that cause death or cause people to commit crimes. Thats just a part of life.

Read up on Prohibition. They tried to outlaw alcohol, and the
Mobsters got rich selling bootleg booze. They got just as violent
over territory as drug dealers get today. And there were illegal clubs all over the US where people could drink. The War on
Drugs will end up being the same kind of mess. Overcrowding
prisons, and the court sysytem.

Nope. Sure doesn't. It makes even less sense the cigarettes are legal and marijuana is not. At least marijuana has proven medical benefits.

But remember this, we (USA) tried banning alcohol once. It didn't work out too good. Probably won't be doing it again anytime soon.

during the days of Prohibition the government realized it could not effectively control the bootleggers , so under agreement that achohol would be taxed and the sales tax payed int the government system they seen where it was more of profit to legalize it that it was to fight and keep it illegal . and it does make good sense pot is illegal my 25 year old brother has been using since he was 18 , he has a pace maker at the age of 25 the THC over time had ruined his heart valves , and they have proven beyond what people with chronic pain say pot is not an effective pain killer it has no anti inflammatory factors to it , just impairs the brain long enough to think your not in pain ...........has no "healing " benefit what so ever

Let's see........Alcohol has been legal alot longer than there have been researchers trying to find out it's hazards, I'm not familiar with any proof that they've concluded about pot and the same association subject. I do remember drinking, sex offenses and AIDS........along with a prison sentence.........isn't that a terrible set of circumstances for someone to be stuck with.....LATER

I can tell you why. The last time they made alchohol illegal back during the prohibition, they just made the problem worse. People were drinking just as much, possibly more. But then they were just doing it while hiding their pleasure from the government. You can ban the substance, but the people who are going to be jackasses are going to find a way to be jackasses.

Alcohol lowers inhibitions it does not cause people to become sex offenders. In other words the inclination is still there, the alcohol merely dulls the offender's impulse control.

Because some people do not drink to get drunk and are mentally healthy. So sad for those who abuse it and others.:(
A lot of things do not make sense, unfortunately, but we have to decide if we want to stay down on things like that or try to understand what we can and go on and be at peace.
Good luck to you.:)
