Is it more important to create things that will last long beyond your lifetime (ie prolific writing, amazing children that may change the world one day, cures for cancer/world hunger/depression and so on)or to embody your most honorable and valuable ideals (ie achieve, move, dream, aspire, actualize)?

DO!

Being is not nearly as important. But remember, who you are is comprised of what you do with your life...

If you can change the world for the better, do it...but in the process, be who you want to be...the ideal person with the honorable and valuable ideals...

Only you can discover, or create, your purpose in life. No one can say with any universality that it's always better to do or always better to be. All we can do is give you ideas to think about, so that you may make up your own mind.

So my answer, or suggestion, to you is that to do or to be are not mutually exclusive concepts. You can both do more AND be more. One could even argue that the key to being more than you are now is to do more, and to do more is to be more.

You don't have to change the world. If you do, just do it because you want to. For me, the best life is a fulfilling life with many experiences and much learning and wisdom. Others may be perfectly content spending their lives in front of the TV watching Nascar. It's up to you. Live a good & happy life however you see fit, just so long as you do no harm to others.

"Doing" and "Being" go hand in hand. You can't have one without the other. To do you must be and to be you must do. There is not other way to live. If you don't do then you have no right to be, and if you aren't, then what can you do. Life is about doing as a result of being. Life is about using your mind to create. It does not matter if anyone remembers you after you're gone. Other people are not important. It does not matter what you create. As long as you create something. A mind without use is pointless, and all people have minds. Some more than others lol. What you choose to do with your mind is what makes your life. You must do in order to truly be, and you must think in order to do.

You can BE without doing, but you can't DO without being. DOING embodies both attributes. The embodiment of an ideal would seem worthless unless you also demonstrate that ideal - by DOING!

The whole purpose is life is what you make of it. Each person has a purpose. Yours might be just to be. Some people are here to love, some are to hate, some are here to help others. Go find yourself and always believe.

One possibile answer has been slapped on bumper stickers, t-shirts and posters, but it still works. Do you side more with Kant or with Nietzsche, or is it possible to find a happy medium? I guess that's an answer in itself. I personally believe you can accomplish both.
Anyway- I know you've seen this:
"To Do is to Be" - Nietzsche
" To Be is to Do" - Kant
"Do BE Do BE Do"- Sinatra

can't do without being. e.g. u can't cure cancer if ur not a doctor. so to cure cancer u have to achieve ur goal of being a docor first and then may be u can make positive change in this dynamic world. thats my humble opinion.

since you are going to do and to be every second, it is not an issue

the purpose of life is to experience the best there is

the best there is, is perfection - perfect experience, that lasts forever - experience that contains everything good, in infinite quantity, nothing bad, and is above time

this exists and is available, and there are many experiencing it - and everyone experiences it in time, sooner or later - it is the fulfillment of life, the completion of life, the full rounding of life

quite an intelligent query. however, the purpose of life is life itself. the evolution of do or be are only conceptualization or realization of life's beliefs.. the "do" or "be" are merely factors to live by. the knowledge of living in life is what it makes us who we are. acceptance of truth, deliverance of values, creativity of thoughts... purely factual and weak when not in place... that is the main prupose, to live each day, accepting what fate gives us and being grateful to experience it everyday....

One always "does" when one "is". People just aren't always great at "doing" productively.
