Thats just nasty. Yuck! I had some (or a peice more like) and it was nothin but fried grease with powdered sugar on it. Nasty! I was eating it at a fair in South Dakota and I wanted to try it sooo bad but when i finally got it, it was complately different than what I saw on TV. Why would you eat that? Do you like it?

You guys didn't have a very good funnel cake then! I have never had a funnel cake that is greasy. It's probably because they didn't have the grease in the fryer hot enough or they were not using the right kind of batter. I have had a few bad ones like you are talking about, but that's just like a pizza being good at one place and nasty in another place. If you get a good one you will change your mind. The best way to eat them is with a strawberry topping on them dusted with powdered sugar!

they mustn't have made it right that's why it didn't taste so good.
Try this funnel cake,

INGREDIENTS:
2 quarts oil for frying
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup light brown sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
2 1/4 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
In a heavy frying pan, heat the oil to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
Whisk together the eggs, milk and lemon extract. Fold in the flour mixture, stirring until well blended. In a separate bowl, sift together the confectioner's sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
Blocking the spout with your finger, fill the funnel with 3/4 cup of the batter. Place your hand over the hot oil and carefully remove your finger. Scribble and criss-cross the batter into the oil, then fry until golden on both sides. Using a slotted spatula, lift the funnel cake out of the oil and drain on paper towels. Repeat this procedure with the remaining batter, and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture while still warm.

I've had a few that were just plain out nasty. But I've made some homemade and ate one at the fair and they tasted pretty good. As long as they aren't too greasy, I'll eat them.

I only like it if it has powdered sugar and strawberries on it. I have never in my life had a greasy funnel cake. That's gross!
