i figure that the penis has a lot of blood flowing through it, and was wondering if it was cut off, would you bleed to dead?

Eventually. John Wayne Bobbitt lasted a couple hours before his was sown back on, but I have no idea if he was erect or not at the time it was removed.

Amazingly no. You'd be surprised how many guys have had it done and survived. There was even a cult at one point of time that was last heard of in 1970 where the men had to cut their own penises off to be considered saved. It went by the whole saying that what makes us different from Angels are the genitals. Anyway if you google it you will find some amazing stuff. Maybe more than you can handle, oddly enough (and I swear this is true) I was googling that same topic half an hour ago cause my friend mentioned the case of the Bobbets. I wanted to know if that had ever happened before or it had happen after wards.

Probably not. There would be a lot of blood loss in the beginning but the body's reaction would be to cut off the flow to the missing appendage.
BTW it is fairly common for guys with mental disorders especially depression to associate the penis as the source of all their problems, so they cut it off!.
My guess is that they are really depressed when they realize what they have done.

Yes, just like you can bleed to death if I cut off your arm, and you don't treat it. However, you will survive longer than if I cut off your leg, because then I will have cut your femoral artery and you can bleed to death in minutes. A severed arm or penis will take a few hours or longer to kill you by blood loss.
That's why when Lorena Bobbitt cut off her husband's penis John survived long enough to reach medical treatment.

having a lot of blood in it is the reason it's erect. yes, a man can bleed to death if his penis is cut off and he will bleed faster with an erection.

I think that your penis getting cut is a good enough reason for you to kill yourself if you didn't bleed to death.
