The studio that owns the film rights wants to make the movie.
Several of the LOTR stars are pushing to have it made.
Peter Jackson is definitely willing to make it, but he's currently busy with other projects.
All in all, it looks like the movie will definitely get made. However, if they want Jackson to make it, we may have to wait a few years.

There is a cartoon version of The Hobbit, but I'm sure that every Lord of the Rings fan would like to see The Hobbit being made into a movie just as magical as the LotR trilogy.

Yeah i'm hoping it is going to come out quickly or later. extra effective as quickly because it is achieveable :) I had examine all 3 factors of LOTR and in basic terms then THE hobit. I cant keep in mind why did it ensue so yet all in all I examine all 4 books 2 time later and that i cant end enjoing thoughts approximately all that stunning tale.

An animated version was made years ago. The word is that Peter Jackson is working on a remake, which won't be released for 3-4 years.

I think there are already multiple cartoon versions.
But if you mean like, with real people, like LotR, no one can really say at this point. I think that any rumors you hear about it are just...you know, stuff that got miscommunicated. It's possible, though. I sure hope they do. I loved the LotR movies :D They're great because I can't focus on the books...>_>. Lol.

peter jackson has said he will make the hobbit but he needs a break from the hobbit scene for awhile

from what i understand is that newline wants to make a hobbit, but they want peter jackson to direct and produce it. when they last said anything about it, he was working on king kong. since that's out he might start i don't know. here is a link to some better explanation:
