Connecting your cable modem to the Router
1.Connect modem to your router's WAN/INTERNET port. Plug a PC to one of the LAN ports (don't worry, if you plan to go wireless on all PCs, you can unplu this later. Best to set up router with a wired PC)
2.Look on the front of the router. The following lights should be illuminated:
-Power
-Ethernet/LAN to where the PC is plugged in
-WAN/Internet Link
-WLAN or Wireless
3.Hold the Reset button on the router for 30 seconds or more
4.Restart your computer

Checking the MAC address of your Computer
Please follow these steps from the computer that was connected directly to the internet WITHOUT the router. If you do not, then you may not be able to connect to the internet properly.

1.Click on the Start button and click on the Run option
2.When the "Run" window opens please type in cmd and click the OK button
3.When "Command Prompt" appears type in ipconfig /all
4.Please make note of the "Physical Address"

Configuring the Router
1.Go to your desktop and double click on Internet Explorer (Located on the Start Menu in Windows XP).
2.When "Internet Explorer" opens type http://192.168.1.1 into the "Address" bar and click on Go.
3.The "Enter Network Password" window will appear.
4.Skip user name and type admin (admin is the default password) as the password, and click OK.
5.By default the router will be set to Obtain an IP Address Automatically.
6.Click on the Advanced tab.
7.Click on the Mac Addr. Clone.
8.When the page loads, input the Adapter/Physical Address you made earlier and input it into the proper fields.
9.Click Apply/Save
10.Go Back to Setup page and change Local IP Address/Router IP to 192.168.2.1 (since it may be conflicting with your modem's IP). Save. You'll lose connection and may get the "Page cannot be displayed" because the router is on a different IP now.

Finishing the Setup
1.Shut down your PC.
2.Unplug the power from the back of the router.
3.Unplug the power from the modem.
4.Wait for 30 second.
5.Power up the modem.
6.Wait for the lights to stop blinking.
7.Power up the router.
8.Start up your computer.
9.Surf the internet.

BTW- you may need to disable any firewalls or security software, they conflict with the router's NAT firewall.

Hope this helps!

Comcast Setup Router

I get this issue constantly at work, it could be a number of different things...
it's best to simply set it up right the first time and it should start working...
lets start with everything completely disconnected. Connect your coax cable to your cable modem, plug your cable modem into the power. WAIT FOR THE ONLINE LIGHT TO BE SOLID, NOT FLASHING.
next, run some cat5 from the modem to the uplink port on your router (it won't have a number, it may be labled uplink, WAN, or internet.).
Now, plug in the power to the router. if the router is already powered, you need to unplug the power cable, and place it back so that it will aquire an IP from your ISP properly.
now you can connect your pcs to the router, if you're running winxp, it SHOULD get an ip from the router. If it is not getting an ip from the router, go to your network settings, verify that you have selected obtain network address automatically, and obtain dns servers automatically.
disable/reenable your local area connection
and you should now be able to surf

I used to be Linksys' biggest fan but I will never buy from them again. Their WRT54G version 6 router is being sold broken -- they know it and its not going to work until they make a firmware fix. Anyways, that being said, Version 3.0 probably has less bugs, but I would try specifying the DNS server for your ISP in your client IP settings. Simply pointing the system at the gateway address (or using DHCP) seems to fail with many linksys units. By the way, I'm using the same RCA modem -- it works well.

You might want to actually POST the STEPS to what your doing...follow some guidelines though...
For wired connections

1)Connect the modem to the router with a cat 5 Ethernet cable.
2)Connect the router to the computer with a cat 5 Ethernet cable
3)If you want to change any settings on the router, type in the router IP address into Internet explorers address bar, then read the instructions on changing what you want.
4)Shut down the computer, router, and modem for at least 30 seconds.
5)Connect with a wireless enabled computer (if you set that option up)

have you tried to log into your router and configure it's setting's?
or you should check to see if your routers mac address is registered with you isp. if its not then you probably need to give them a call and give them your new mac address.

first i would try to log into your router to see you configuration settings.
